Bodhgaya is well known on the world map for the place of Enlightenment of Lord Buddha 2500 years ago. This is situated in Magadh Division of Bihar State. Bodhgaya is surrounded with many poor villages and there is not such a skillful education system. The Bodhichitra project will provide a skillful education in Thangka painting and Training center for women to learn stitching, weaving, embroidary and cloths design to help themselves after training, especially to uplift women’s self respect in the society and bring some positives changes in community. Also it will support in decreasing the unemployment problem. These villages also have very little health awareness and we wish to run awareness programmes.
Thangka painting has very special future in Bodhgaya because most of traveler who comes here they are Buddhist or interested in Buddhism and because thangka painting is Buddhist art which has originated in Magadh division but since has been lost, so this school is going preserve the sacred art and bring home back.
1. Thangka painting school
I. To provide skills and employment opportunities to Indian youth.
II. To provide these young artists with the philosophical and ethical skills to effect positive change in their communities
III. To bring home to north India, to the ancient Buddhist state of Magadh, the art form of Thangka that began here but has been lost.
IV. To preserve the art traditions of the Karma Gadri for future generations.
2. Training center
I. To provide skills in fashion and design to young girls and women for self employed
II. To provide health awareness center in village area, S.H.G and vocational trainings and etc.
Future of the Bodhichitra Goals
To create a fine artist in Thangka painting in India who will hold the lineage of this ancient spiritual art form.
To give them employment opportunity as well as spiritual practice after learning this skills.
To give skills to women by making cloths and design , so they can help themselves.
To give self respect to women and uplift them in village community to equalize with men’s society.
